An Untimely Passing--Robert F. Drake

By Jane E. Allen

I'm so sorry to pass on word from Sean Reilly that fellow Calhoun classmate, Bob Drake, passed away during the Labor Day holiday weekend. Bob suffered a heart attack on Sunday, Aug. 31, while playing in the surf in Point Pleasant, along the Jersey Shore, with his wife Roselyn and daughter Gabrielle. Bob, who was born in Amityville, N.Y., and lived in Manhattan, had turned 50 in March. He was a reinsurance broker with Benfield Inc., in New York City. Visiting hours at the Macagna Diffily Onorato Funeral Home, at 41 Ames Ave., Rutherford, NJ, are scheduled from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 4, and from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 5. A funeral mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 6, at St. Mary Roman Catholic Church, 91 Home Street, Rutherford, NJ 07070. For those of you who might be interested, an educational fund is being established for Bob's daughter Gabrielle. For more information, contact the trustee, Anthony Urban, at tony.urban@jrgre.com. Also, you may send condolences to Roselyn Drake at home at: 10 W. 66th Street, Apt. 17E, New York, NY 10023.
